Black Valentine Press is committed to publishing stories that focus on groups who aren't often seen as heros, heroines, or theroines to prove that everyone deserves a happy ending. Kay Zempel publishes under the Black Valentine Press label. As a disabled and mentally ill author, Kay Zempel often weaves her own experience into her novels. Kay writes both paranormal romance (The Blood Pack Books) and mysteromantasy, her own portmanteau for a romantic fantasy mystery (Garden and Greenstreet Mysteries). Stories from Black Valentine Press will always be open-door regarding one or two (or more) consenting adults. Content warnings are provided at the beginning of all novels.
BIO
Kay Zempel has been writing since she could hold a pen. Throughout school, she filled notebook upon notebook with stories when she should have been taking notes. When she wasn't writing, she was creating new worlds in her mind.
Eventually, Zempel traded her pens for pipettes to seriously pursue a career in science.
Kay Zempel is a former academic, educator, and technical writer, but she remains a world-builder at heart. She now writes fantasy romance, with her debut novel coming soon.
A southern California native, she now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her dog and husband. They are living out their own happy ever after.
